The light and the lightness of life

There is a beautiful park in a town nearby. I caught a moment of the summer sunlight playing with the water and I was thinking about the parallel in the meaning of the words – light as a wave of photons that we perceive with our visual sense and whose energy warms the surface of the Earth, and – lightness, the state of being light in weight.

The ray of sunshine carries its lightness. It is pure in its existence and it shares its energy, giving life and diversity. Shiny molecules of water come together and create the beautiful spectacle to our eyes. Very lightly. No effort at all. Just standing there and observing the event.

But for us humans there seems to be only few things in our lives that we perceive to be light. From the beginning of our lives and the burden of the child birth to the end of our lives, we go through  so many troubles, heartaches and obstacles. We regret so many things we have not done or have done badly.

Yet, the lightness of being is a given. We do not choose to be born and in the most cases, we do not choose to die. Many blessings in our lives are simply given without much effort on our sides. They come lightly to us and they bring us light to see the real meaning of our existence.

Should we choose the darkness and pain or should we choose the lightness by just giving up the effort to know and do everything, to control every moment in our lives and to be something else but ourselves? Choose the light and lightly. It is much easier.

Ooh, Shiny!

    1. Hi! It is a small pond with a fountain and plants aside. It was a very sunny that day so I took the picture (with my phone camera) towards the sunlight to catch the light rays going through the water sprinkles, creating this illuminating and peaceful site for the eyes 🙂
      Greetings,
